A. Duxbury School District provides at least 15 hours each year of high-quality professional development in the area of Instructional Technology strategies to enhance teaching and learning for all Duxbury Faculty that: · Align with school/district goals · Incorporate MA Standards for Learning, National Educational Technology Standards for students, teachers, and administrators · Include skills as defined by the Partnership for 21st Century Learning · Produce products used for instruction and shared with colleagues · Include examples and resources for Universally Designed Lessons & Principles.
B. Technology professional development is sustained and ongoing through a variety of means. These include but are not limited to:
1. Collaborations with colleagues through the sharing of best practices,(dlete comma) and products during faculty, grade, department, or team meetings
2. The district’s Online Professional Development Site contains teacher products, workshops, and tutorials aligning with proficiency levels as defined by the TSAT. Staff may develop their own individual professional development plan, take part in a blog, or become familiar with top Educational Technology Leaders at this Virtual Learning Space.
3. During the 2009-2010 school year in collaboration with Bridgewater State College, a graduate course- Foundations for the 21st Century Teacher was delivered several times on site for all Duxbury Faculty and surrounding towns. 4. Training continues during the summer through a ‘Summer Institute’ that concentrates on Web 2.0 and 21st Century Skills.
C. The Massachusetts Technology Self-Assessment Tool, (TSAT) is used each year to assist in the (delete the) professional development planning and to provide an assessment of district and teachers' needs. The assessment is based on the competencies listed in the Massachusetts Technology Self-Assessment Tool.
D. During the 2009-2010 school year teachers and administrators were able to select their own PD workshop based on their need and their individual results of the TSAT.
